FLOODS
Floods are a natural calamity. They cause great
Damages to human life and property in some places road came under standing
water. It is caused by heavy rainfall, cyclones, tidal bores or melting snows
on mountains. In Pakistan, the floods are caused by heavy rainfall and melting
snows on mountain, which make the furious and ferocious river over flow their
banks and inundate the surrounding country. In sprite the immense powers put by
science at the disposal of man, he is hopelessly hopeless in the face of the
ravages of the flood.
The floods cause a great misery and destruction from material
and human point of view. Thousands of people become homeless, lose their near
and dear ones, get deprived of their flood stock and animals. The weak and the invalid,
woman and children meet with a watery grave. Besides the cattle are either
killed or washed. Men and beasts, both alive and dead, are seen floating on the
currents of water. House topple down with everything being washed down by the
water, many factories and their stock are damaged. Roads and railway lines get
seriously damaged. In this way the areas affected by flood are cut off from the
outside world. Many persons die of snakebite. Not only this, but many fatal
disease like typhoid Malaria and cholera break out in short, the destruction
wrought by floods is beyond description.
It upsets the whole economy of the country. The loans
are given to them for replenishing their animal stock and making the fields
ready for cultivation again. The damaged roads and railway lines are repaired
and reconstructed.
Students also paly praise worthy role in the helping
the flood affected people. They collected funds clothes, medicines form the
generous public and send these things to the affected areas.
Out government is also taking some measures for controlling
the flood.
Measures are being suggested for remodeling the embankment
and digging the beds for the rivers. The better system of irrigation, better
system of railway bridges and better embankments are some means suggested by
experts to check floods.
